The 2nd annual Shuswap Cycling Club Frosty Dog Fat Bike Enduro, proudly sponsored by Skookum Bike & Ski, is set for February 10th, 2024. This exciting event will take place on the scenic South Canoe Trails near Salmon Arm, offering a fun, yet challenging race experience for all participants.
What to Expect
The Frosty Dog Fat Bike Enduro is a multi-stage downhill-focused race featuring between three and four stages, depending on trail conditions. The emphasis is on fun, but riders can still look forward to competitive timing across the descent-based segments. Categories are available for Fat Bikes, Skinny Bikes, and E-Bikes, ensuring riders of all preferences have a spot in the event.
The race begins with a mass start, broken into waves to accommodate all riders, and timed individual starts at each enduro stage. Riders will begin at 30-second intervals, though this may vary based on rider readiness.

Race Timing
Timing will once again utilize the SI Air system. Timing activators will be placed at the start and finish lines of each stage, with results automatically collected and stored on each rider’s device. A briefing on the timing system will be provided before the race.
Pre-Ride the Course
For those unfamiliar with the trails or the conditions, the course will be marked by Friday, February 9th, around 3:00 PM. Pre-riding is highly encouraged to help riders understand the trail challenges and navigate potential icy sections safely.
Registration & Fees
Racers can register online via Zone4, and members of the Shuswap Cycling Club can participate free of charge. Donations for the Snowdog machine’s upkeep are welcome on-site. Race day registration and check-in will take place between 9:00 and 9:45 AM at the Dog House staging area, where timing chips and waivers will be collected.
Food, Water, and First Aid
Water will be available at the start/finish area, but riders are responsible for bringing their own food. A fire will be set up for those wishing to roast their own hot dogs—feel free to bring any extras or other refreshments. First aid will be provided by a trained volunteer, and riders should always prioritize safety, stopping to assist fellow participants if needed. If you stop to help someone, your time will be credited accordingly.
Race Etiquette
This is a laid-back, fun event focused on community and enjoyment. Please be respectful of volunteers, other racers, and non-participants using the trails. If you encounter other trail users, yield the right of way, and any time lost will be credited.

Once all riders have finished, results will be posted, and prizes will be handed out courtesy of Skookum Bike & Ski. Categories will be open, and results will be separated by gender. Stay tuned for race results, which will also be available on the Shuswap Cycling Club’s website.
